I use Multiply.com and Flickr, for my personal photo albums and portfolio works respectively.

Multiply.com is free, and offers you unlimited space and albums.

It's easy to use, and although it's coupled with blogging/calendar/video features, they can be disabled and you can use it solely to display photographs.

    Key Features:
    - FREE
    - unlimited albums
    - unlimited photos in each albums
    - unlimited photos overall
    - able to search for photos according to Tags (like Flickr)
    - various upload options - Java drag and drop batch uploader is their best, they also have single file uploading, email uploading, etc.
    - able to keep a list of contacts
    - able to enable/disable comments being written about album / individual photograph

I for one have a collection of 110 albums from various events I've photographed, and till today all photos can be accessed and viewed.

The downsides of Multiply are few, considering that it is a free site sponsored by advertising. However, for what its worth - it's easy to use, and have the basic and essential features that you'll need for displaying photos.

    Potential uses
    - Photo albums to display per event or per category of photography
    - Use tags to group them together (eg. You may have albums of different events, but every event that is a wedding can be tagged 'wedding' and thus all weddings will be displayed together when you search for that tag)

I use both Flickr and Multiply, and although I love Flickr for it's clean, simple look, as well as the remote Uploadr program, I still very much love Multiply for the way they've done it up so nicely, and without any membership costs. You might want to consider that Flickr is a better means to discuss and share photography with the seasoned photographers and 'pros' - I've learned alot through such exchanges.

Given these reasons, Multiply continues to be my means of sharing personal photos with friends, wheras Flickr is my photographic portfolio for my finer works.

Just my two cents (: Hope it helps.

I use a flcikr pro account. Solves all my problem of hosting with unlimited space and bandwidth, high speed connection, auto resize and allowing others to view and download the original image. I also joined a group of my interest in flickr where they pool together photos of similar type and discuss about them.

wat features do you need on top of the free flickr account?
if you are IT savvy enough you might wish to host your own website. I think its about the same price as flickr pro but it needs more hands on approach..

I was thinking of pooling a bunch of frens together to share a web host and we can use the web host together..

free flickr account have 200 photos limit and 100mb upload daily limit.

basically main purpose is to "saved" a copy of my photos and video online.
the website must be able to saved the original copy and allow me to download the original copy to my PC also.

the thing holding me back is that flickr cannot upload video.

wonder is there other photo hosting website can allow me to upload my photos and videos.

Having expensive gears do not make you a better photographer. Period.

Deviantart for some selected works (I am a subscriber there), Multiply for the bulk of my photography, Photobucket for blogging/forum purposes and PicasaWeb/Flickr for everything else (may have redundant stuff though).
