Red face Newbie take of The Fullerton Hotel @ Night

Advice need on how to improve the shot. No PP done at all. I have only one lens and the max range is 55mm. Would like a different angle but restricted due to the construction on-going now at Esplanade (which is where I shoot from).

    The cropped image is:

    The original picture is:

I have already received some feedback from other seniors on how to improve this shot:
    1. Try to shoot around 7pm to catch the 'blues'
    2. Try to shoot from a different for more impact
    3. Cropping / composition too tight

I will appreciate more advice on how to give this picture more impact.

just seeing the thumbnails, original is better than your cropped...

tight crop is one thing, but subject layout is another, your subject is fullerton, how come your picture almost 1/2 is about the light reflection?

althou it will sound old fashion, but some shots really have to really get the subject in the middle... like tis shot... if in doubt, take more of the surrounding, and then crop to your fancy. for me, i'd rather have 2/3 or 3/4 the top showing the fullerton, remaining the reflection... remember, your subject is main focus, the rest are just accessories to make it look nicer...
