Default Anyone else waiting for S6500fd replacement?

I am wondering if a replacement is indeed coming. It does seem that they are taking a little longer than the competition.

If it does come, I hope they do not get sucked into the MP "race" and a rotating LCD would be good.

rotating lcd has been patented by canon already, so there won't be any 100% similar types of lcd, however maybe smth like the fuji 9600's flip up lcd lor.

seems like fuji's prosumers no more super ccd, look at 5800 and 8000.

i believe only the higher end prosumers would have the super CCD.
that is fuji's only main selling point i believe

pana got leica.....
canon got ease of use and extensive marketing.......

but NONE of them beat fuji in terms of noise and colour.....

if only leica teamed up with fuji....however that would be impossible as fujinon would go out of business!

patented? that sucks...hmmm maybe if canon bought over fuji.

surprise that something so "commonsensical" can be patented.

5800 and 8000 are lower end for the budget user who wants everything but at a lower px.

canon buys over fuji?
NO WAY man...

anyway... i hope the replacement is still 6 megapixels
just hope it would be largely the same as the original camera
cept maybe with IS
and perhaps a hotshoe as well

of course a faster lens would also be welcomed

I hope that it will not be a lithium batt as mentioned in your post. cos i will be staying FAR away from such a cam. It's not like it's a compact cam like the F50.

I hate it when manufacturers phase out batt and then use that 'reason' to squeeze your balls to 'upgrade'.

I'm waiting to see what Fujifilm will come up with.

Expectation is high.

Even if I want to buy, I will wait at least 6-12 months for any problems to be resolved and also for prices to fall first.

I'm still pretty happy with the S6500fd except when shooting candid/still life indoor low light shots. The focus accuracy seems to be quite poor and very inconsistent.

For a Fujifilm S6500 replacement, must have

Super CCD - 1/1.6"
Optical zoom at least 18x
Wide angle 28mm stays
Still operates on AA batteries
Manual zoom and focus rings stays
6MP and more okay
IS
Hotshoe for external flash
Supports SD/CFI and II
WB temperature (kelvin) controls
Shutter speeds - bulb, 60sec ~ 1/4000sec
Optional accessories (2x Telephoto and .4x wide)
Tilting or swivel LCD at least 2.5" 230k color
Non-extending zoom lens construction
Lens hood and caps and adpator provided in package
Better lens construction (like the Pentax coated optics) to prevent lens flare and ghosting
Faster f2.8 lens
Live view

18x zoom starting from 28mm (35mm equivalent field of view) on a 1/1.6" sensor would mean needing a 120+mm lens which is almost double the 66.7mm currently on the S6500fd.

F/2.8 (I suppose throughout the focal length range) some more.

That is not going to happen.

mmm maybe increase the sensor size? Is it possible to have a zoom lens at minimum f2.8?

Is this the shape of things to come for ultra zooms?
