I like #6 very much. Abit brighter may be better.

I am lousy at butt shots, and you are able to get so many....good for you! There are some motion blur and the wings for some are not that sharp.

thanks!
yeah the shutter speed is very low when when i first started out. and with a 2X tele its very hardd to focus and hold it steady.
still learning how to do it correctly.

np, i've shot it before, that's why i remember

shot at ah? they have a lot of those. in any case, not sure what setup you are using, but try to place the wings parallel to your sensor.. makes for easier composition.. but that's not the only way to do it, of course.

lighting looks pretty fine to me, though could do with some levelling to improve overall brightness.. though that is subjective to personal taste.

yeah i know about the parallel thing. i try to get to that angle. but sometimes they move and turn and u dont really get a true 90 degrees with the details especially when u shoot at a big aperture.
yes shot at AH =D dont remember seeing much. and i hardly see them land =\
somehow the butts at macritchie seems to be easier to shoot.
my set up is usually tamron 90mm macro (used to do it with a 2x tele) but now i rather try to sneak up to them. with a sigma macro flash (dont really like the effect) sometimes i holdd it above the butterfly, the shadows look nicer that way

the id of Lexias canescens pardalina is most likely a female archduke Lexias pardalis dirteana

This is a Lemon Emigrant. Many forms for this species.

Your butterflies shots are getting better but I find that there are rooms for improvement especially the exposures.

Keep it up and hope to see more from you.

Regards
