oh., just looking for the various options to see whats the best
Noosa and the other beaches are definitely places i would love to visit , but i think it would be wise to take advantage of the the 3 weeks to go somewhere further. ( since it will be the first of my only 2 term breaks here )

well i'm not sure about diving and marine places, but if you like landscapes, i'll highly recommend Melbourne. The Great Ocean Road (GOR) is a fantastic drive, and Grampians is definitely worth visiting. oh it's winter now, so be prepared. i went there in June a coupla years back and almost froze my butt off, esp on Mt William (it was snowing, almost hailing up on top).

Melbourne has lotsa nice scenic places..but if u really want a truly good experience since u're somewhere down under, why not make use of the oceana package and hop over to Tazzy or even NZ, they offer MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH more as compared to Melby.
Melbourne> a must go, are their wineries, Crown casino/entertainment center, GOR (great ocean road but it takes a blardy long and sometimes dangerous drive) along GOR, stop by at Apollo bay/Lorne...theres a nice beach there to enjoy your fish and chipperies
Grampians is nice but during winter?....erm...get frozen butts
If u've planned much earlier, u could have actually reserve a place to stay/camp over at Wilson's Prom. Its a quite place thats always booked out and thats where u can get the 4 kinda rainforest in one place...we're talking about sparse to secondary rainforest, from temperate to tropical weather..all in that place..
its fantastic for bush walking and the beaches there are superb.
Stop over at Phillip Island for the worlds smallest penguins, or take a nice leisurly drive to Mornington Peninsula and use the car ferry to sail past Port Phillip Bay to Geelong and head to Torquay beach?
hee hee..i sound like a tourist brochure
cheers and take photos hor!!!
Oh yar, u can go Mount Buller to ski or Mouth Hotham too
they are nice but as with Sydney/Melby, things are nice and EX too
