He knows you're referring to the Sigma 18-200 OS HSM, and he is right. According to the Sigma website, it is only available in Nikon F-mount.
Check with the Sigma 18-200 OS HSM page on their website please. The 18-200 OS is available in Sigma, Canon and Nikon mounts, but not the 18-200 OS HSM; The HSM lens is only available in Nikon mount, the reason being so that it can be used on D40/D40x. I also bought this lens ( I am a nikon d40x user). I am a newbie in photography, I noticed that even though it has an OS, the shot is still a bit blur, is it because my hands are too shaky? How do you put into measurement that OS is effective up to 3 stops only? Badly need the OS/VR in a lens as I don't have a steady hand.
Also, i noticed that the zoom is a bit tight somewhere right after 80mm, for those who bough this lens, do you also have the same issue? Is that normal? ![]() |

u can visit my blog can look at the pictures taken during my honeymoon. i will say the OS is really effective, perhaps u may have a lemon copy if not maybe u need to relook at your shooting techniques. ![]() This shot is taken at Las Vegas: 18mm, f5.6, 1/6s ![]()

perhaps u can try the rule 1/focal length. (w/o OS) 18mm, 1/10s, auto ISO. (w OS) 18mm, 1/10s, auto ISO. try to take a few shots using these settings under different lighting conditions. by right, if yr breathing and shooting technique is correct, when OS is used, the pictures taken should be sharper than without OS. in addition, u will hear a hissing sound when OS is engaged and u can actually the glass elements in the lens shifting to correct any movements.

I did a couple of test shoots today and it seems that the lens' OS is infact working. During night time though, it is not as effective, maybe due to low light. Thanks for sharing those test set up, I will try to do that as well. Wanted to make sure it works fine while still under the 7 day return policy. BTW, have you used your Sigma 18-200 mm in taking macro shoots? If so, did you use a close up filter in your lens? Really appreciate your thoughts on the macro thing. cheers!! ![]() |
