Default CHRISTmas by the river

Hi,

I saw this at a shopping centre and took a shot. My objective is to caputre the mood of Christmas and the reflection to show the activities along the river.

Please comment to help improve the pic, particularly on the composition.

Thanks.

Great shot! Maybe can try another shot with wide open aperture? Tighter square crop?

Thanks swishbrade, you mean shallower DOF when you mentioned wider aperture?

Thanks freezemaster for the honest comment. Yah, a tighter crop is an alternative to bring out the reflection.

If there were more colored balls behind the golden one, filling up all the spaces showing the roof, then it will really bring out the one golden ball. I know this is something that cannot be helped, but perhaps another angle?

As for the reflection, I like the idea that though it may not be obvious at first, on closer look, the viewer may suddenly say:"hey look, there is a reflection in the golden ball!"

I think it is a good effort.

Hi tsjcsl,

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. Yah, I did try to look for different ball for the reflection, but the rest are showing the mould seam and only this one is showing the good side and I love the river reflection, so can only walk around this quadrant of the tree.

Hello travelEworld,

Thanks for the and I definitely won't mind you showing different versions of the pic. Its good to see how others will PP the shot. Both the mono background and "shallower DOF" are good for bringing out the reflect.

Thanks for sharing.

Nice and sharp. Nothing much to complain abt except opening up your aperture would have been better...
