    work culture

In Singapore, how many companies allow their staff to take MC happily for many days due to flu or cold? All sick leave must have MC.

    No Work for me!
I was a medic during NS so i know why we should not go to work or mingle in populated places when we are sick.
Sick = home = sleep = rest = get well soon.
When you return you will be well rested and better than a dragon!
Or alternativley you could work from home =P

Depending on situation, usually, I will go and take MC and rest at home.

I will recover faster after resting than 'dong' at work.

Moreover, it's not worth to work while you are sick.
    1) It may spread to others, thus affecting their productivity or employment...
    2) You will not be productive yourself.

Come on all.... at work/organisation, ALL are dispensable. At home, you are Indispensable.

If you die at work, company will just hire someone to take over your role. The question will be, who is going to take over your role at home?

Hire another Father/Mother/son/daughter etc.... you get my point...

    totally agree

anyway some bosses are nice, some bosses are mean, and some employees think too much.

some employees continue to work when ill for fear of getting retrenched. some employees continue to work to show off to the boss how hardworking they are, but behind the boss' back complain and complain and complain

Yes, i will take MC. It's my own health, not company's. If i don't take care of myself, nobody will. Sick and go to work, company also will not appreciate. If anything happens, who's gonna take care of my family?

Siao. Take MC, I die. Don't take MC, All in company die.
Of course go lah, then when you get better all the rest will be sick. Then you will look gleaming man.

    just curious.
then in that case even if i was the boss and needed you at work i would rather that you stay at home. later make serious errors, and spread epidemic around my company next day everyone just no remorse and vanish because they have flu too.

    long run > short run
