Hi Astin,

I am beginner in digital photography and only uses nikon cp4500... and just curious, are those who joined this studio shoot all very good in photography?

You see, I am interested to try it out and experience it, but my skills really hestitate me... Would you please comment what are the basic requirements you think a photog should equip to qualify for studio shoot?

Kindly advise.

Hmm, good question, we don't have a qualifying rule for the studio shoot. Although some photogs who joined are in the Premium League while some others are in Division B. But hey, sometimes Division B team can beat a Premium League team just by hard work and some luck.....

Seriously, the main purpose of organizing the studio shoot is to give chance to every interested photographers to try and practise. You may not be good on the 1st time, but if you keep practising and learning through mistakes, you definitely can improve. So far, our studio had photographers from all walks of life, different races, different nationalities, different genders, using different brands of cameras.

Wanna join us? Next shoot is May 24, Jun 7, Jun 21.

Hi weelimtiaw, here is the basic requirement:

1. Camera with hotshoe or sync connector to connect to the studio flashlight.
2. Film, battery, memory cards.
3. Thats all, everything else is optional.

Of course, some of us will have very serious/high class equipment, but that is not the main point, the main point is which photographer can take the best shot, knowing that we are all photographing the same model. Sometimes I do wonder why someone else is better than me....

And of course we also compare shots in between, so someone is learning from someone else....

Hi,

I'm pretty new to all this, and was wondering, do I have to take note of any flash voltage across the terminal of the strobe pcsync connector? Heard that my camera can only take 24v.

Sausage, in fact we use either (1) infra-red transmitter; or (2) sync cord cable. There is no worry on the voltage across the pcsync. Cameras that used by the photographers in the studio include Sony F717, Canon 10D, D30, D60, EOS30, EOS50, EOS 55, Nikon D100, F90X, F100, Fiji S1Pro, S2Pro, S602, plus Leica and Hassy.

But for all 10D users, you can shoot in RAW and then do some colour processing later. The entire 10D software is installed into their PC. Something that I did so that future 10D users can enjoy...

Actually I am armed with only a Palm V powered by Motorola Dragonball processor, not a very high class equipment in today's world.

We have one last vacancy for June 7 studio model shoot, anyone else is keen to join?

I will be at Peninsular foodcourt on June 2, about 7-7:30pm. Anyone want to see the samples photos for the studio setup or studio models, can come and see on the spot. Just look for the guy with the less hair in the foodcourt.
