Winter in Beijing - Pre-snow

Just sharing some photos from Beijing as the weather starts to get colder. But still nice weather for shooting. Beijing is not all hazy and dirty as some imagine. This lovely weather has been like that for the better of the week.

WOW !!! I love the blue skies. The photo I liked most is the dried leaf on the boardwalk. Nice perspective.

did you use a polarizer to enhance the skies ?
Will the skies be like this in mid Dec as well or they'll turn dull gray ? Not sure of the Beijing weather, hence the question. And I suppose it only snows after Christmas or in Jan, right ?

Nope, no polarisers were used. Such is the effect of the ultra wide lenses of the Olympus Zuiko Digital Lenses. There is a thread that discussed this earlier. Will post the link later.

It has already snowed once this year. According to the locals, it usually snows near mid December all the way until March.

I was there last winter for industrial attachment. It hardly snow in Beijing these recent years. The locals claimed it was the warmest winter they experienced. Looks like global warming is a really big issue now. Winter is a good time for photos in Beijing. Come summer, the pollution and sandstorm start coming and you will no longer see any blue sky.

Been in and out for 2 years, and there seems to be no more sandstorms, not like in the 90s. They have planted trees all the way out to the desert, so the sandstorms has less effect on Beijing these days. As for pollution... sigh... something that is unstoppable at the moment because of the millions of cars on the road everyday. Plus all the new construction sites springing up all over the city is not helping. Sigh...

Last year had little snow, but the previous year, it was snowing all the way till late March. The weather is going crazy!

I went May this year. The weather was not as good as yours. During that time was very hazy and hot. The locals told me best time for photography in Beijing will be Autumn and Winter.

Especially Autumn.

But these are just my try into landscapes and stuff... still a newbie in this area... hoping to improve in landscapes...
