It's Arca-Swiss, not arc-swiss.

Get something better, use to have 488RC2, not very stable.
D3 is not light, don't be fool by the 488RC2 spec, it only stated the max load bearing, my setup is 3kg and the ballhead is

Ballhead from Arca-swiss is a lot better.

Leong,

Oh dear, if it can't even handle a 3kg load than its really bad. It's not stable is it because of the ball bearing or the Q plate? i'm currently using my old 3 ways RC141, i don't like the Q plate, as when i try to do a portrait shoot the Q plate screw will always give way little by little.

I heard from some forums that they modify the cramp plate to an Arca-Swiss one on a 488RC2 Ball Head. Will it be better

What are the specs that i should look at when getting a ball-head? What is the load weight that i should look at?

My friend told me to probably consider KangRinpoche (KC) Ball Head which is having offer in Cathay Photo. But it doesn't comes in cheap. Was advise to get the NB2-A unit weight:0.52kg Max load weight:32kg unit price: $575

Sorry for asking so much question? normally how much is a Arca-Swiss ball head that is good for heavy camera and mid-range lense like 70-200?

Both the Q-plate & ball head is quite bad.

I using KangRinpoche NB2-A too. The performance is good for my current setup which is quite heavy: D80 + 200mm Macro + Wim. Marco Bracket + Manf. Marco Plate + SB600 ++

The price i brought at CP is $475 (include body plate), last week my friend brought it from OP for around $380 (w/o body plate)

Very interesting stuffs, especially the one on using the RRS PCL-1 clamp to replace the ball head's QR clamp. Can quickly set up to take pano shots.

Thanks for your link

Just brought my Wim. sidekick from a fellow CSer yesterday and discuss on this too. Arca-Swiss ball head is not popular now due to the drop of quality.

If got budget, go for Markin, or else KangRinpoche is good enough. Personally i don't like Benro.

RRS is top notch but very expensive......

Consider the 486mgrc0 or rc2 that are worth the investment. For your setup, you can skip the 488rc0 or rc2

I have just checked the price of 468MGRC2 and for those who are interested, CP is selling at $450. If you wish to replace the original clamp with a RRS lever release clamp (120USD, excludes shipping), the whole setup will cost around the same price as a Markins M20.
