My apology to Chngpe01 (moderator) for OTing too much in my previous thread.
![]() Ok.... Let get back to our topic: What is the lowest shutter speed you can handheld without using VR? For me it is 1/4 sec with a Nikon 80-200 f2.8 AFD at 200mm end. The images came out tack sharp. |

Wow! 1/4 sec -- when you say handheld, was someone holding your hand?

Photos with exif intact to justify will be good.
Maybe also can state whether 1 shot 1 kill or using continuous fps for random hit.

At 200mm, I am only willing to go 1/10s with VR II on. Else, it's strictly at least 1/160s, although I'd prefer other means (increasing ISO, shooting at 135mm and cropping) to circumvent this problem.
1/4s at 200mm is incredible. |

Just curious: If you can really do 1/4 sec at 200mm w/o VR, am I right to think that you can also get tack sharp results at 2 full seconds handheld WITH VR? (Since Nikon claims 3-4 stops VR advantage). Wonder if you've tried that...

If you don't have anything really productive to say, don't. You made the choice to read this thread and you made the choice to hit the reply button and say something unproductive, when you could have easily just left the thread.

Nonetheless, I am certain that there are some of us (or at least myself!) who are interested in seeing this feat.
Perhaps you can upload a couple of shots to showcase this talent? |

![]() I was forced to shoot at 300mm f/4 1/60 with no support for an indoor event before. Hit and miss affair. |

and even a picture with exif data cant proof anything as the person can always mount the camera on tripod when taking. |

![]() 80-200mm focused at 200m, handheld at 1/8 sec (had my first cup of coffee this morning therefore I cannot go lower than 1/8 sec without blurring). My right shoulder leaning against the wall. Shot at ISO 100. Last edited by photobum; 23rd November 2007 at 09:43 AM. |
