Capture NX to be bundled with D3 & D300

Just learned that Nikon is bundling the Capture NX with the D3 and D300. It's about time.

eh!! i paid good money for my nx!! grumble... grumble... grumble...

but agree, it should be bundled...

p.s. as long as it doesn't increase the price of the cam...
p.p.s. but yes, it is all bundled in, so we wouldn't know the difference anyway...

Are you very sure about it? The bundle might be the "lite" version just like the Picture Project that already comes with all DSLRs.

It's the full version, but they're only bundling it with the first 300,000 cameras (D3, D300) sold worldwide.

No fret. After the 300,000 are sold, the price drop will give you budget to buy NX yourself.

I thought it was only UK?

initial shipment will have just the key to unlock the demo version,
subsequent shipment will come with the CD itself,
but I'm not so sure about the 300K units thingy.

If no wrong the software is free for 1st xxxx set hope I didnt read it wrong from today launch.

In the translation you will see that they mention something like - to commemorate the launch of the D3 and D300, they will be giving free copies of Capture NX 1.3 to the first 300,000 buyers of these cameras.

BTW - they're actually not "bundling" it with the cameras, it's just a commemorative offer of free copies for a limited number of buyers. If you look at it, there's an argument against them bundling Capture NX with the camera bodies - if they did start bundling the software with the cameras, they would factor in the cost of development/support of the software into the price of the cameras (ie. higher camera prices) - and if you were a professional who bought multiple cameras, you wouldn't want to be paying multiple times for software you only need to buy once, thus better if it is bought seperately.

Just to confirm yes the Nikon NX is included with the D300 but do be careful what paper you throw away. You are to download the trial copy and than put in the code. The code is in one of the 2 non prominent papers for the NX and you have to peel off the strip of paper that covers the code.

Wow...NX is worth around $180. If you minus off that amount from the price of a D300, it becomes a really good deal indeed!!

Just bought D300!

As verified by Bro Dennis, there's a piece of paper that has the access code.

Hopefully Nikon will have Capture NX for all adopters of D3 and D300
