Don't see why not. 12 mp, good DR and noise suppression. It would produce beautiful images that sell.

I would say yes. The D3 and the 85mm F1.4 would be an excellent duo for studio work.

Why not? Just aim it against a window.

with LO iso setting, good noise compression, 12mp FX sensor, 85mm f1.4

and of course with the knowledge of studio photography

all will piece together beautifully

Is 12MP sufficient for you? The answer to this is the answer to your question. Very subjective.

On paper, that is the best digital camera that Nikon have, I can't imagine if it can't do the job properly

Isisaxon,

Good question. hmm i'm actually still on doubt whether can it produce a good studio image, as i can see most of the samples is mostly cover on sports.

as for the resolution i do understand there's some capped in blowing up the picture for a 12mp camera. But my next concern is if Nikon brings out an competitive model against Canon 1Ds MkIII. Will the such high resolution a a FF sensor produce a good result.

I used to own a D2X, Studio result is quite good, but just noisy. Blow up max reasonable print size is about A3 size for RAW

What do you guys think?

Oh any samples of studio images that you all found in the web taken from D3?

Could you share why you think that the D3 will not be suitable for studio shoots? I find it hard to follow....

Vince,

Probably i'm thinking on the resolution, and the main target Nikon make this cam for which i believe is more on for sport rather than for studio shooting.

I'm very sorry if i am wrong, and please comments & advices if i am wrong.

Because i have some fellow photogs which own 1D MkIII which they mainly forcus more on sports rather than using it as studio.

altho i haven't seen any samples of the d3 taken in a studio environment, i don't see why it should perform in a studio.

certainly, resolution won't be a problem. 12 mp on a full frame sensor is more than enough for most pple.

Hi JoHo,

What you mean that you don't see why it shouldn't or should perform in a studio?
