yes.

the 50/1.4 is an interesting lens. it is the only lens with micro-usm that allows full-time manual focus.

So in other words even though it is in AF mode its ok that I turn the focus ring? Also another thing is that when I was turning the focus ring, when I was turning towards the infinity direction, it seems like there is no end in turning. There is no lock like there is on the other end? Why is it so?

There's no lock in turning but the focus ring will be stiffer once the maximum/minimum is reached & the internal focusing mechanism will not move beyond their boundaries.

So if I continue to turn will it spoil the lens?

I don;t think so. There is a clutch mechanism that allows the ring to con't turning.

It shouldn't, but I wouldn't do that anyways, just to be safe. Why would you want to do that?

As I said, it should not, but just to be safe, don't turn it past the limit too frequently.

the only 'worst' case scenario is probably the ring becoming more loose than previously (but that comes with prolonged usage rather than random turning..)
