Default 580EX Flash problem with 400D

Hi,
I have a problem with my 580EX as this problem seems to occur more often now. The problem is that 580EX does not show ETTL and my camera kept showing F22 at 1/200 shutterspeed. When taken pictures, they are overexposed. I was using "P" setting at my 400D.

My 580EX had change PCB before. After that, my flash had intermittence problem communicating with my 400D. I brought it back to CSC again and they told me that the contact might be contaminated. I had tried rubbing with rubber and cleaning with alcohol however the problem still persist.

Does anyone had similar experience? And what can I do to get rid of this intermittence problem. Thanks.

Bring it back to CSC with the repair receipt and tell them what's happening. If they decide to charge you, make a little bit of noise and say that your problems began after the repair, citing the repair receipt as proof of the work done to your flash.

They should be nice enough to at least check the problem for you and remedy it w/o cost, if it's nothing serious. If it involves replacement of parts, then I guess you have to be prepared to pay for parts.

BTW, the 580EX you're referring to is the first version right, not the mkII?

Yes mine is the first version. Thank god, it is still under warranty however I am concerned that when they clean the pad and the intermittent problem might go away.
