Was considering 70-200mm F4 IS ? or 70-200mm F2.8 with or without IS? Main uses travelling and may include indoor shoot?

Erm. Results on the 2x Extender will greatly reduce image quality.
I recommand using the 1.4x Extender on either (regardless of focal length and aperture) of those L lenses. It possible, avoid those crap and get a longer lens. (Seriously.) |

You'd generally want to only use 2x TCs on prime lenses as zooms normally don't fair too well. As fireblaster_lyz has mentioned you might want to try a 1.4x instead or just get a longer lens. Anway, the 70-200 F2.8 L IS is still rather sharp even wide open with a 1.4x TC at F4.

if you use f/4 + 2x TC. you might lose AF.

IIRC, the prices are relatively similar.. but do check with the usual stores for more accurate info..
while i am not aware of any sites with a good comparison for original Canon 2x extenders... here is a comparison for a 3rd party provider (Kenko).. http://www.pbase.com/lightrules/2xtcs |
