would u buy Canon extended warranty ?

Hi all ..

I saw tat Canon has this extended warranty thingy . For my model S5is .. it cost abt $70 for 2 yrs if u buy it within 14 days of purchase of ur camera . Just wondering .. would u guys buy it ?

I bought a 400D last month and the offer is $150 for 2-yr ext warranty, giving a 50mm f1.8. Since the 50mm f1.8 cost around $125-160, I went for it.

I heard that the free 50mm F1.8 promo has ended. Does anyone know if there is any new promo going on for the extended warranty purchase?

Yes, the promotion has ended. I spoke to Canon and they have encouraged us to wait for SITEX as there may be some promotions (may or may not be the same).

oh that's def a gd deal... even so, i believe extended warranty helps give peace of mind, and shld u need to sell give better resale value as well.

I bought the extended warranty. S$100++ is rather reasonable for the peace of mind.

Besides, the 50mm prime during the promo was a bonus.

originally we have 1 yr warranty rite?

so, is the $70 for another 2yrs (total warranty is 3 yrs) or inclusive first yr warranty?

When you register your product online, you get additional 3 months local warranty, so it bocomes 15mths local warranty. And when you purchase the Extended Warranty, the total months under local warranty for your camera would be 39.

What if you want to sell it ...say 15 mths down the road, a valid warranty would warrant a better price and also a faster sale ya ?

hi all, brought my 40D few days ago, i try to register my extended warranty cost $240 for 2 yrs and lens 17-85 cost $120 for 2 yrs.
On top of this, i will not get any free gifts.
Do u guys think is worth it?

I don't think it's about free gifts, is it?

Warranty is about ensuring your equipment will have some form of insurance that if anything fails, Canon will pay for repairs.

Whether it's worth paying that much for this protection is entirely your call.

Think you have 14 days window to get the warranty ? If so, wait for the computer show this week, who knows, they may have some offers set up for it. Its just a few days, so might as well wait to see ?

think i just wait for few days more b4 i sign up for extended 2 yrs more. but 240 for 2 yrs quite alot compare to 120 for 400D.

Perhaps good to wait few more days as Canon may launch some promotion during the Sitex. And also true the price for the warranty is different for both 400D and 40D. Maybe if you are lucky, they may bring back the free 50mm 1.8 lens for those who register online....
