Hi, I have used Canon Lens 70-200/4L and 28-135/IS almost 5 years, there is no problem. But this year get 50/1.8 II very cheap, just 3 month, the lens can not auto focus, after 1 week repair, it is working fine now. I am not sure is it because of the lens is too cheap cause problem or maybe expensive lens has better quality?

Anyway, I do buy extend warranty. Is there any brothers some thinking?

Thanks!

so does this means that recent lens are lower in quality as compared to last time. As such, we should consider extended warranty. I hope more people can share their views.

my personal opinion is that any products in the current times are no longer as sturdy as the previous generations.. thus ext warranty is gd to hav if its not too much % of price..

How to get the extended warranty? Because when I went to ask CP they say that lens do not have the option for extended warranty only body has. So is there any way to get the extended warranty? Do I have to get it when I buy the lens or register online? Thanks.

Not worth it. If your initial testing for the lens is OK, and if you take care of it, the lens should serve you well in years to come. I won't waste $ on this if I am you. Yet again, electronics stuff are very difficult to say. If you feel paying extra will give you a peace mind, then go ahead.

You can extend the warranty from Canon when you register online.
