here's one of the reviews from www.photographyreview.com

Summary:
Great lens, just as sharp as my old 28-70(which was great)& weather sealed to boot.

Strengths:
sharpness & super fast AF

Weaknesses:
weight

i believe the presence of UD element in 24-70L is probably to overcome the barrel distortion which is commonly seen in 24mm zoom

well the price u going to pay is well justified for the UD glass and water and dust resistance built

for a tighter bubget, i believe the 28-70L will serve u well too in term of sharpness

just my 2cts quote

The 24 range makes it even a greater lens. Your only regret will probably be the weight.

UD... as in Ultra-low Dispersion glass? If so, it has absolutely nothing to do with correcting barrel distortion.

Its a very good and sharp lens however someone mentioned its weight and he's right it is heavy and pretty long too.Weight combined with a body is about 2+ kg.

after lots of test and comparision, i feel and have to agree that the pics taken using my 85/f.18 is more fresh, pleasant, 3D and sharp than taken using my 28-70L.

i even tried blind mixing one 85 f/1.8 pic file into 50 28-70L pics files without seeing the pics. then picked up the most pleasant one. damn...it's the 85 f/1.8 one.
