Nope those are lenses for SLR systems. Those for digicams are different. Yes, those cameras u mentioned have threads for them to be screwed on.

Do homework first before heading down to SLS.

Default Should I ... Should I not get a teleconvertor lens?

I have a 5050 and am wondering pondering on purchasing a teleconvertor in the near future. Need to brush up on my novice skills first

Anyway, the teleconvertor will actually increase my current magnification from 3x to (eg) 6x right? Will there be any vignetting? Or is it a bit of a case of overkill to add a teleconvertor to a 5050?

    Advice/Comments please?

It will not be an overkill to add teleconverter or telephoto lens. If 3X is not enough for you then buy telephoto converter, say, 2X to give you 6X. But bare in mind that additional lens will degrade the image quality somehow.
To make sure that your additional lens wont vignette, bring along your camera when you buy and test couple of shots then zoom in to the 4 corners.

    Yes, that's true.
