I was considering Benro carbon fiber tripod. For those who are using Benro tripod, what's your experience? Is the quality good and reliable?

I have use both carbon fiber one and alu ones from benro before.
Carbon fiber one is a good choice lighter and the legs at the bottem are thicker which means stronger. very strong and stable but are heavier than ones like silk or those that is sold at carrefour. http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthrea...ighlight=benro http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthrea...ighlight=benro

Am using it. Good performance and value for $$. Choose a good head to go with it.

Thanks for the info. Very interesting finding as people don't normally dismantle the ball head to see how it's build internally. |

my benro m058 carbon fiber tripod and ks-0 tripod ballhead works great. value for money.
I've been using it for more than half a year. Even brought it overseas for holiday. so far no complain, very happy with it. you might want to see and try the tripod yourself to decide. ![]() |

I'm a full-time photographer and have been using Benro carbon fibre tripod and ball head for almost 3 years now, with no issues at all. I travel quite a fair bit too and I always checked in instead of hand carry, and still the tripod and ball head survived the harsh handling of airport baggage system.
If you like to read reviews, you can check out Luminous Landscape reviews of the tripod use in the Antartica expedition, how's that huh? Btw Benro is marketed as Induro in North America's market, so they are identical. IMHO, Benro carbon fibre tripod is the best and most value for money tripod in the market today. Highly recommended |

I wrap the tripod & ball head with bubble pack (those with really big bubbles) and stuff it in the padded bag that comes with the tripod and just ckeck-in like that. On some ocassion, I'll put the whole thing into my soft luggage. Hope that helps.

Quite a few years ago, like 6yrs or so, I bought a cheapo Steinheisser tripod with ballhead. After a while, the legs locking levers doesn't clamp properly anymore, despite the tightening of the screws. And the ballhead became very jerky even after oiling.
Well, if you want quality and if you want it to last almost a lifetime, then go for reputable brand and bit the bullet and pay for the quality. So, go for those like Manfrotto, Gitzo and Giotto or Slik. A good tripod will last your virtually forever. BTW, these days, I hardly use my Manfrotto 055 tripod, becos hardly shoot night scenes, fireworks etc.

Hmm.. did some more reading and found out a bit more about Benro tripods. They seem to have a problem with the leg locks which would cause problems with resisting torsional forces.. More here...
http://www.prophotohome.com/forum/bl...34252&entry=57 Hmm..... Cheers, |

The locking mechanism fail would be due to 2 reasons as below 1. The small plastic rings mis-aligned due to handling or over-tightening. If it did happen, turn out the whole section, and align the plastic rings inside the tripod again, put it back, and the problem solved. All these can be done by bare hands. 2. The small plastic parts inside the locking mechanism would be spoiled due to wear and tear, but can be easily replaced for free. As Benro supply the plastic rings to me. I have a set of Gitzo, they are using the same locking mechanism. If you face the same issue like this or any other issues, just bring it back to me and I can solve the problem for you. Happy shooting ! ![]()

A full Wimberley Head is much more suitable for the big lenses (400mm F 2.8, 500mm F4, 600mm F4 or any of above) than any ballheads (regardless of brands like Acraswiss, RRS). http://tripodhead.com/products/wimberley-main.cfm Again, if any Benro ballhead fail, just contact me at 65-93880029. Happy shooting ! ![]()
