Canon over-doing it - commercials

i think canon had bought alot of air-time recently, was watching news and the canon commercial kept flashing - i70 and camcorder . at first quite like the commercial ( very creative ) , but after repeat so many times it had been flashed , the commercial had irritated me instead .

maybe it canon's marketing strategy.

the Carlsberg, Don't-ask-me-ask-OCBC and Ikea's "Dong Xi Zai Na Ni" also very irritating..

but if not, it won;t be effective rite?

The most annoying ad I feel is the one by Best Denki.

It goes like this..
During the sale in March, the "fat woman" comes in with lots of shopping bags and the husband (a skinny fellow) sits on the couch and listen to his "wife" go non-stop about the good bargain and the freebies there, and all the while they keep saying "Best! Best! Best!" and finally the entire truck comes in with their goods and the poor husband has got to "carry" his fat wife with his arms.

I was very annoyed by the accent of the 2 chaps, so fake. and the darn ad comes on every morning, afternoon and night.

I was counting down to the last day of the sale, hoping so the ad will be removed when it's over. Glad it did.

I really miss the days of good advertisements and they had the viewers vote the best advertisment.

I remembered Fujifilm's ad won 3 times in a row, until they announced they will not be participating as they give others a chance.
Their ad featuring nature and scenry was so breathtaking, I even tried to search for it in the internet. but did not find it.

Well, since Canon is probably one of the richest companies in Singapore, they can afford to pay for the advertisements. The higher the frequency, the more expensive. So let's give them credit!

But howcome they not promoting their digital cameras? So many new models sia...

They are already No.1 for their Digital Camera... so now have to focus the sale for their DV... which have been Sony Strong hold..

That's because Canon digital cameras are popular enough that they don't really need to advertise them aggressively. :P

Btw, there are advertisements for the new IXUS S400 and a new photo printer (forgot which model).

I think it's because times are bad and they want to cut costs by producing cheap and low creativity ads, instead of getting good companies like Satchi & Satchi to do it for them?

However, I think a good ad will leave a lasting impression on the brand and it's a worthwhile investment.

Hmm... There isn't any advertisments at all for digital cameras on the TV, very strange....
