Hi!
Have decided to venture into MF, on a small budget initially, and after much research here and at other sites, have settled on buying a M645 system! As for the M645 system, after much reading, I am still not absolutely sure what exact components I should get, hence this thread. Maybe I should say what I plan to do with the M645 system; I will shoot mainly landscape and portraits (studio); for landscape, I would like a lens which has a focal length which is the equivalent of 20mm in 35mm, while for portrait, I like to shoot at around 100mm to 120mm (I know, a bit longer than normal). Landscape I shoot mainly at sunset or very early morning, normally at very slow shutter speeds, so MLU is a must. So here are my questions re the M645 system: 1) What is the best Mamiya 645 body that I can buy from keh? I will not mind paying a bit extra for the better model. Digital back is out of the question though! AF vs manual focus, is AF worth the extra cost, or is it quite easy to get perfect focus in M645 (I struggle with Manual focus with my Nikon SLRs). 2) Other than the body, lens and film, what other stuff do I absolutely need to use the M645 camera to make photos? I am hearing a lot of accesories but I would jut like to start with only what I need at the moment. 3) What is a good but affordable lens for this system that has a (35mm equivalent) FL of 20mm, and one of 130mm? Can all Mamiya lenses be used with the 645 cameras? can other lenses be used with the M645 (without adapters), what I mean is, what are the Sigmas and Tamrons in the MF world, or do they not exist? Thanks and best wishes! Rick |

you can consider the 645 pro TL body. i believe its the best body you can get short of the AF... because of the very very large viewfinder etc.. manual focuing is pretty easy on it.
as for lenses, for the longer range zoom i believe there is 150mm and 180mm available. for the wide angle, i believe there is 35mm lens. Last edited by jdredd; 12th November 2007 at 05:14 PM. |
