Default Caveat Emptor

Just wanted to share a fair warning..which has been given by the moderators of the BNS section.

I had looked up a particular lens and had PMed the seller. The seller says that his price is non-negotiable and would rather keep the lens in his dry cabinet than sell it. That's fine..its every seller's perogative. But what's funny is that after a couple of weeks..the same lens is being sold with the same details but using a new username..such a COINCIDENCE.

I go and send another PM to this supposedly new seller...again says lens is "NEW" and "NEVER" been used...but lens is already so many months old. The seller after a number of postings says he is lowering his selling price. I then PMed the seller again that if would lower his price again that I would be interested.

The seller becomes arrogant and says I have guts to ask for a low price for a "Brand New" (so many months old) lens...where in the first place all I said.."if you decide to lower your price..I would be interested".

The point of this thread...as the title says.."Caveat Emptor"...Buyers Beware.

I am not saying there are no honest to goodness sellers out there..I was once a lens seller, but the gall to be arrogant...that blew me away.

I am not sour graping as some might perceive, I'm merely exposing some of the techniques/styles (whatever you call them) of some scrupulous sellers, so that others may do their homework and compare prices, sellers, etc...so that you can make a more sound and reasonable assessment of the person your buying from and the merchandise they are selling.

Good evening and good luck!!!

Doesn't seem to be anything new though.

Just don't buy anything from these people.
In time, you may come across a better offer ... like I did.
