int'l warranty

Hi Guys,

Sorry if this has been asked before. I bought a 70-300mm IS lens from OP and it comes with int'l warranty. Just want to ask if this is a 12 month full warranty and can be used locally? Because I thought I read somewhere in the forum that int'l warranty is only valid for 6 months locally?

Hi,
From my understanding for accessories sold in Singapore eg. lens and flash, international warranty is 1 yr however for camera such as the ixus and powershot series, international warranty is only 6 months. There is no international warranty currently for EOS sold in Singapore

For DSLR bodies bought in Singapore, it's either 1 year local or 6mths international. Apparently same arrangement for DSLR bodies bought in HK. Dunno if can buy extended local warranty after that.

BTW, does anyone know if there are any promos for the 24 month extended warranty since the free EF 500mm f1.8 lens has ended?

EOS bodies does not cover international warranty from what i know. Only applicable to IXUS and powershot

Maybe I want to correct myself. Based on the warranty cards that I have, for any compact camera, DSLR and selphy printers models comes with 1 year local warranty. For users in China and India, the camera too carry one year China and India warranty. For international warranty, only selected regions have international warranty. International warranty do not cover DSLR and selphy printer.

you can opt for 6months international warranty, ask your dealer

Regardless of all that has been mentioned (and the fact that most of you have actually missed the point),

lenses have a one year international warranty.

I just called Canon Singapore to check again. EOS do not have international warranty. If it had my friends from the UK would have bought theirs when they came to Singapore for holiday two months back.

Either the dealer convinced you in believeing or you are misinformed. I used to have a copy of the international warranty card that came with my ixus. I clearing states no international for selphy and EOS. Canon interntaional warranty for lens and accessories comes with a green color warranty card which states 1 year international. Maybe someone may want to correct me if I am wrong.

Are you sure I can opt for 6-months international warranty if I buy my DSLR in HK?

I not sure. I juz been to shanghai last month and ask for a 40D. It was slightly cheaper compared to Singapore however only 1 year China, hongkong and Macau warranty. No international warranty too
