Flash and TCs

Whenever you attach a TC to your lens, and you're doing flash photography, does the flash head zoom in to match the lens+TC equivalent focal length?

I'm using a 50mm and a 2x TC, but the 550EX zoom remains at 50mm.

i guess you have to manually zoom the 550 cos the TC (obviously 3rd party cos the Canon TC cannot be used with the 50mm) is not transmitting the info back to the flash via the body...
