What's your ISO setting? High settings usually produce noisier pictures.

It seems to me that your WB is not set correctly.
Just wonder what camera are you using? You can set your camera to "P" mode to shot, that will be easier, however, you certainly need to set your WB correctly, else, the outcome turn out will not be expected |

I'm using the E510. One thing I noticed is that the camera can pull off an IR shot in about 1 sec instead of the usual 2-3 secs I use (didn't realize that was overexposing). I shoot in raw, and find that those pics barely visible in jpg turn out to be quite usable in raw. If I check those 2-3 sec shots, they're all noisy. So maybe you can try out a shorter exposure, or a faster lens? I'm typically shooting with my 14-42mm (28-84mm equiv) kit lens at f3.5

i think canons need a longer exposure time
maybe around 10-15 secs and yes u do need to get a proper white balance |

1. Set your camera to CWB (Custom White Balance), 2. Screw in your IR filter 3. Set the WB by pointing to a patch of green grass (do it under bright sunlight) 4. Save the CWB setting Now you should be ready to take a snap with IR. I did it on S3IS as I said, and it is super noisy, will try again after this raining season (or if lucky to have occasional bright sunshine)... |
