I searched back to 2006 threads and could not find anything. Most of the threads were in the classifieds, or most discussions were about 18-200mm lenses (?)...
I noticed that there were quite a few Sigma 10-20s being listed, and getting snapped up (EOS mount). Is there anything wrong with this lens, because I was thinking of selling my excellent 15-30 and getting this lens for it's wider view on my humble EOS. I have read numerous international reports etc, but just wanted to hear about the personal experiences of folks here, if you can share them. Are there any differences in the copies available here, as compared to say the US or UK? I notice that forums (US, UK) showing shots with this lens look stunning, whereas some of the sample shots seen here seems to lack the same kind of 'punch' or 'sparkle'. Could it be the atmospheric differences? |

I just sold mine 2 weeks ago.
A lot of people quote me for this lense. Nothing wrong with this lense, just that I don't know when I going to use it again. I bought it when I travel to Nepal last year. After that kept in dry box till 2 weeks ago. It is definately a waste, rite? If this lense is useful for you, then go ahead, own one ![]() |

Read some who said that quality control with Sigma not too good, some lens very sharp, some not so. Not sure if is it really true...

Got to be VERY careful if you're purchasing the Sigma 10-20. I tested 5 copies in different stores and ALL have right side blur issue. Eeeewwww.... I eventually settled on the Canon 10-22.

OK, thanks guys.
Is it specifically on the right side blur only problem, or it is some right, some left? |

Mine's fine and is one of the most used lenses I own.
Just because there are a lot of a particular lens on the B&S does not equate it to being lousy. |

there is a 'season' for lenses.. once in awhile you will see people dumping X lens and during another period, Y lens.
IIRC, there was a thread mentioning something similar to your query but it was on another lens ![]() |

Yeah, I remember...at one stage, it almost seemed like everyone was getting rid of their 20-200L 2.8 IS, but that lens has a stellar reputation, so the seasonal bit made sense, but Sigmas have been know for inconsistent QC...
i was in the market for a 2nd hand, but I think it might be better to get new in case it needs to be changed etc. |

i agree. make sure you double checked corner sharpness for the well-known QC problem. i tested a few copies to get a decent one.
