dear all club-snappers..
anybody could advice me on what would be the best model of Manfrotto Tripod + ball head to get with this setup: * Canon 400d * 24-105 f4L (is) lense or 70-200 f2.8L (non is) not for profesional shoot, just for casual, a simple ball-head will do. any idea on the price in Singapore? thanks a lot for the suggestion.

190 tripod with a 488 head is more than enough. or 486 even. don't get the pro or xpro if u dun use the horizontal column. i am considering getting just a normal one for more stability.

IIRC 190 only sells as 190XProB now. There's no more of the older 190s in production any more.

You'll find the Manfrotto 190 a little too short. Fine if you don't mind bending down. I'd think the 055 is a better height for you, but it's heavy (er).

At 1.8m.. Think a 055 will be more suitable for you.
Try it out at the shop (Cathay have a good selection). And, try not to raise the centre column if you can help it.

If you've dosh, can check out the Mamiya tripod Cathay is currently having an offer on. It can go up to 1.9m+
![]() and can support 8kg. Plus it's mighty light for it's size and what it can carry.Only thing is dunno how good Mamiya tripods are (durability and after sales support), plus it costs close to $500. ![]() |

At 1.8m, you will definitely need a 055 series tripod, 190 series tripod is too short for you. If you have no need to place the center column in horizontal position, 055X and 055CL allow you to remove it and replace with the low angle adaptor.
