just curious to find out your choice.
If you can only choose between the two, would you choose to buy canon 40D or canon 70-200L f2.8? |

Depends on one's need. If I need a backup body or my current body is needs refresh (e.g. spoilt or nearly spoilt) then I will get the body. If I need longer reach then the telephoto. If neither, then I will use the money for a holiday or save it for a rainy day.

get the lense esp if i got a dslr already. Spend money on lense better than spending on bodies.

Generally speaking, you probably would upgrade your DSLR every 2-3 years; whereas lenses tend to stay in use much longer than that. I take it you already own a camera body, so go for the lens..

I don't need either. But if you are seeking advice, and you have a camera body already, then get the lens. You don't have to rush to get a new body.
