Hi all...
I just bought a A70 and am looking for a screen protector. Surfed this site and found that the LCD Protectors 'da Protector LCD protectors are used by alot of users here. Went to the 'da product site and found that the 'da Micro Protector is suitable for the A40 having a 1.5 inch LCD screen which is dimensionally similar to the A70. But the A40 have a squarish screen whereas the A70 have some buttons below the screen and a part of the curvature of the arrow buttons on the right side of the screen. Can I still use the 'da Micro Protector which I am going to order off the net now or am I better off with those PDA screen protectors? Thanks for any input. Cheers. http://www.steves-digicams.com/2003_reviews/a70.html |

I've used a Palm Vx screen protector on it , couldn't last more than 1 day, and it just dropped off. Moreover, i get alot of "bubbles". sigh.
Anyone here has a good DIY remedy? the buttons are really troublesome. |

I also had the same problem. Sticking a protector then after 2 outing with the camera the strip started to peel off liao. Does anyone know ware to get a relatively good protector in the market. Hope to get it off the shelf and not through ordering cos wanted it fast as i could see some tiny scratches on my A70 LCD. Thanks ![]() |

I'm using a PDA screen protector for the A70 lcd screen. It's one of those off-the-shelf kind, WriteRight or something like that. I think it's sufficient, don't have to pay so much for the Da.
Mine sticks on firmly and doesn't peel off. Used it for many previous digicams and never peeled. Many PDAers get those cheap plastic overlays and they work pretty well too. |

how do we prevent the 'bubbles' from forming? is it true that we have to dab a bit of alchohol on the screen 1st before laying the protector?

i bought a pack containing 6 screen protectors from SLS
specially for digicams application of the thingy was ok, though it took a few tries to clear the bubbles. looks quite nice now ( except that i have to custom cut the part where the screen hits the buttons and that curvy thing switching between viewing and taking pics )

I bought PDA protector from Challenger - called ScreenPlus for $8.50 - 3 pieces in there, but each piece is big enough for 2 A70 screen size.
Here's a trick to make nice fitting protector for the A70: 1. Photostat the digicam... yes, the LCD portion 2. Cut out the LCD portion of the photocopy, tracing the curved areas, etc. 3. Using the cut-out photocopy of the LCD area, place it against the PDA protector and cut the PDA protector to be same shape 4. Use a hole-puncher to make the holes for the buttons... again, use the photocopy as guide. I found that the holes made by the hole puncher makes a hole of "perfect" size for the buttons. 5. For the Func button, I double punched using the hole puncher to make an 8 figured hole of the same width as the Func button. Clean the LCD and then paste on the protector onto the LCD. If you had cut it well, it should fit perfectly. That's it. Good luck! ![]() Copy and paste this URL into address bar for a pic: http://xtplace.netfirms.com/dbchoong/104_0497.JPG ![]() Last edited by dbchoong; 22nd May 2003 at 01:38 PM. |
