I've used Tamron 28-200 wif FM2 before and find in very dark to focus, sometime the centre become totally black & hv to point the camera up and down before can see and focus again. it's much better to do wif prime or zoom lens wif shorter range like 70-210 or 28-70 or 28-105. suggest u try it out first before u buy.

hi ITD,

i'm looking for a telephoto lens wth reasonable distance for shooting birds and such...

I read from forums that 400 is a good range and i'm looking for a reasonably priced telephoto lens to invest in.

that's the reason why I'm looking at Tokina's.
i've been using Tokina lens, 28-105 and i'm thoroughly impressed.

but as for this 80-400, i'm rather new to it.

so, would need to seek more advice before i invest some $$ into it.

any suggestions?
thanks.

shooting birds wif FM2 sound challenging
hv not used lens wif focal lens longer than 200. can only suggest getting prime lens as they are brighter, easiler & faster to focus.

maybe u can try
official website of the Nature Photographic Society (Singapore):
