Default What scanner to get...

Budget less than 400... hopefully around 300+

Not really into those really tok gong scanners, since i dun do printing and only for web.

Basically, i need a scanner to scan mounted slides and xpan size slides. Yet to venture into MF, so 120 is not needed.

I normally use velvia & provia, and saw the provia 400X result, look darn good on my lightbox, hope to scan it.

Been thinking, either a simple slide duplicator on DSLR, or a flatbed, or a dedicated 35mm film scanner.

Please indicate price, availability and model... thanks..

KIV - Canon 8800F, Epson V500, KM SDIV

have gotten the canon 8800f recently, readily available and priced around 300.
performance is good, IMO.
scan time is decent, able to do 120 and 35
color reproduction is ok.
not sure it compares with the epson though.
