    Default ------- Members' Privacy -------

Iíd like to highlight the privacy of any and every members of Clubsnap.

Member(s) who have had taken the picture(s) of another fellow member(s) during any group trip, please obtain his/her approval/consent before posting the picture(s) in the internet whether Clubsnap or at any other website for public viewing.

This is a kind of respect for fellow membersí privacy, Iím sure any photographer himself/herself would want to be treated the same way. Unless member(s) is/are very sure that the person cannot be identified which usually not the case.

Thank you for your co-operation and understanding.

Then i suppose dun take group photo better, since its rather obvious that taking group pictures on outing will eventually be showcased in this website.

I think a better way would be asking all photographers not to show any compromised shots of photographers which will make them embarassed.

I think you misunderstood and therefore misinterpret, I meant fellow photographer(s) that was/were taken in a candid manner which usually without knowing.

Even in a posed group shot, it is also matured and courteous to ask for permission/consent or at least mention your intention, one SHOULD NOT ASSUMED or TAKE FOR GRANTED that posed for photo means allowed for publication. There is a common saying 'Assumption is a Mother of XXXX'. Thanks for highlighting.

well, i'm not sure why are you so uptight about your photos being seen in public.

i guess most, if not all, are quite comfortable, and its common sense you don't post something that will humiliate the person in the photo.

I suppose in your context, most of the 'snapshots' in the candid section should be taken down.

I donít have the intention to engage in a never-ending debate with you or with anyone (thereís always a YES or a NO response to a statement/view).

Anyone has his/her own right(s) in doing anything(s), but ultimate he/she alone has to bear the consequences.

Itís fine with me if you disagree, and I wonít worry a hair.

Thanks for your reply and have a nice day.

Well... It's a very grey area. So I'm not sure to agree or to disagree.

if u do see pics of urself in any uncompromising poses or circumstances, jus PM the fella who posted it and i'm sure he'll remove it.

if it's posted in CS n u felt that ur rights haf been violated and the poster refused to remove it, simply PM the mods to resolve the matter.

otherwise, u might haf to seek help from ur lawyers.

    Certainly, courtesy is important!

But how about the pictures taken, say from the fashion runway, from people in the streets, from the people watching the National Day Parade. Would courtesy extend to them also?

Or are photographers special? And have special rights which non-photographers do not have? Do you think a mature and courteous photographer should ask or at least mention his/her intention? That he/she should not take things for granted?

Do I sense an assumption on your part that courtesy need not be extended to people other than photographers as far as asking for permission for publication?

Then how about "NON" photographic members? Open season on them? heheh...

Geesh if I was that anal all these years of shot tons of candid shots of all my friends, past and present colleague, fellow photographers..I will be sending out tons of written permission to each anf everyone just in case I will use them or in the future. Aiyo...*headache* Everyone has to police their own action...that's my way. If I did it that way..I rather giveup photography and never ever go on a members outing. Is this what the newer generation is now evolving into? A paranoid post 911 generation who will worry of being sued or getting sued by someone else. heheheheh.. And no...no one has to do it my way hot...so relax...I am not trying to cramp anyone's style or paranoia or embrassing candid moment.

In some other countries, it may not be just courtesy, but the law. Or, to be nitpicky, you may be allowed to take a photo, but you're not allowed to show it to anyone without the consent of the person depicted in it.

E.g. Germany. The concept is that your image or likeness is part of your personal rights. When you take a photo of a person, in general, the rights to that photo belong jointly to the subject and the photographer. There are exceptions, e.g. for crowds (where the individual is only incidental or not recognisable) or figures of a public character (e.g. politicians) where the interest of public information outweighs the interest to privacy. This is also the reason for the existence of model releases.
