Thread: I hate Windows VISTA

I think Vista will suffer the same fate as Windows ME. It has such a bad reputation right now, it's cheaper to scrap it and start the marketing anew. When ME was introduced, most people just stuck with Win98 because ME was buggy and fraught with compatibility issues.

But a lot of effort and resources have been put into coding Vista.

    Vista has 5 versions.
MS made fatal error in slicing it too thin. Too calculative. Wanting to charge more for a bit more functionality.
    It confuses the market.

    To correct:
Collapse the silly 5 into 2.

    Business
    Home

Why pay a silly MS management millions US$ a year when the man on the street can tell you that for FREE.

to juz quote a bit from the above link:
One user said that Leopard was more like a beta than a US$129 upgrade and if Apple does not pull its finger out soon he was going back to Tiger. Generally the message summed up by one user was "Apple fix please Leopard is useless [sic]."

Lets face it, every new OS iteration, there will be problems. Give it sometime & things shud turn out fine. I find Vista ok, juz lack of new app support & drivers for now.
I'm feeling the pain on Leopard now.

It's better but it's also worse for now.

If you read the Blue Screen of Death for Leopard thread, you'll see various things wrong. Nothing is incredibly terrible, but it's all too typical and a lot of it will be fixed in the 10.5.1 release in about 6 weeks.

Still, the overall operating system is better in many ways and if both Vista and Leopard are completely fixed (if that were ever possible), I would choose Leopard as it's a better operating system.

Execution flaws are much easier to correct than design flaws.

Which part of Leopard are you feeling the pain?

So fair, the only issue I encountered is a small one, my Adium instant messenger dun work; I switched to MSN Messenger. I did an upgrade, not fresh install.

Maybe because I didn't install any system enhancing software, that's why my upgrade is very smooth?

Using AIM through iChat causes my high speed mobile phone internet connection to disconnect frequently. The AIM application from 2004 works just fine still.

My Canon i9900 printer is no longer able to be used, though my Canon all-in-one works fine.

My internet connection can no longer be shared by my Linux/Windows box.

There are various other issues that would be expected, but I think the worst is that Adobe CS2 and older apparently don't work properly, though I haven't tried Photoshop 7. I guess it's time to upgrade. I've seen reports on just about every third party product. It seems as though the resolution independence and the enhanced firewall are causing several problems.

Yes... but they don't need to throw the baby out with the bath water. They will probably correct the faults, upgrade some features, and call it something else. At the rate it's going, Vista will never catch on.

i installed vista on my new laptop, did windows update, used it for 1+ day, before deciding to ditch it

free and open-source are moving faster then microsoft and/or apple. at least i don't spend much money and disk space to reinstall the OS and all the programs when migration. I have 90% of my work programs installed within a week, unlike winxp or vista which i need time to find and install all the drivers 1st before I can start using the laptop

Before Vista was available, most companies surveyed didn't even have machines strong enough to run it. Obviously, by the time they upgrade, they'll most likely have to run it but fighting it all the way, especially if their software is incompatible.

I thought that Microsoft would try to add some of the previously cut features back into Vista but I think they've got too many problems to fix.
