Most products that are newly released have bugs. It's a matter of cost effectiveness to make a program perfect before release, or just good enough to be released to the market, and Vista is no small program.

Most industries would not consider adopting Vista until all the kinks are ironed out, ideally by the release of a Service Pack, which fixes most of the known issues. If the IT department are unwilling to deal with the problems, stay with XP Pro, and avoid the headaches.

And I do agree that Vista sucks in a way, but it's too much hassle for me to revert back to XP Pro, and thus I live with the occasional hiccup.

MIcrosoft have recently...in a quite way have "extended" the period for oem and their channels to sell XP. The cut off period has been taken away. It seem, VISTA is causing no end of problems from the most basic version right up to their so called Ultimate edition, lots of pop-up warning you of this and that...etc And lots of people are not buying it or have reverted back to XP from a number of online and offline reports that I have read or have helped friends change it back to XP.

Recently it is the anniversary of the VISTA release and still there are many problems, stills alot of fixes and "patch tuesday", recently it even went online without your permission to access it's update site to download some files which MS claim was necessary. Abit of a hoohaa over this. Incompatibility problem with it and other third party apps still prevail. Even a die hard like me still stick to XP Pro though I was offered a free VISTA. If you are not a true geek who like to tweak around with your PC's OS, spend alot of time setting up security issues...blah blah...stick to XP.

its the consumers who always do the "testing"...then they start solving. If not, no problems, no worries.

Yah...my office also lots of problems with vista...printers out of the blue stop communicating with the desktop stations. Haunted...

There are many that quote "Vista Sucks".

I don't think I have referred to it as such.

I would referr to it as " the biggest piece of c4ap opperating system".

It was on my main computer, "free from MS" for one week and I hated it.

XP it the only OS (other than Linux) I will use.
Time, is an effortless construction :)

"The search indexer is, I'm sure, a really cool idea. But I don't do many searches and I'm getting increasingly peed off with my hard disk constantly thrashing so I'd like to turn it off. I really would.

It appears that the indexer, despite claims to the contrary, reindexes everything each time it runs rather than just new or modified files. With an archive of emails going back 20 years or so, that's quite a lot of files and quite a lot of annoying disk activity.
    "

"Being a clever sort of chap, I thought I'd try renaming the executables that run indexing. They live in the System32 folder. And here's my second question for the folks at Redmond: Why am I forbidden to rename files in any folder beneath the Windows root? It's my machine, I paid for it and I don't like being told my administrator account is denied access to it."

"And here's another odd thing. Every couple of days, Word 2003 decides that I'd really like curly quotes and turns them back on for me. Now, call me old-fashioned, but my personal choice for my software on my machine is that I want ordinary quotes"

    So jialet meh ???

Anyone wants to throw away their original Vista copy ?

    Gimme can ?

I am using XP and refuse to move to Vista now.
    Maybe later.
Much later if Vista improves. IF

    Why should I?
To look at the transcluscent GUI?
    That's for kiddos.

After a while, what you want from the PC is sheer computing power to drive your other software. The OS is just the OS.

And what if silly Vista refuses to work with your expensive XP based software? Even if you want to pay all over again for the Vista compatible software, imagine the hassle of relearning, reinstalling....

But MS got a timetable to stop supporting XP to force people to buy Vista.

Nothing beats using a XP 64bit.........hassle free......plus I can go all the way to 32GB of RAMs (if I have that amount of money lar to buy).

So far after using it for a couple of months (plus never switch off my workstation), it's still problem free. Not that I waiting for trouble to happen but seems so smooth and easy to handle.

Vista opens hell lots of windows to perform simple task. Links to same programs are all over Vista, after a while you have multiple instances of same program cluttering the whole desktop.

I'll add that they're working on SP3 for WinXP and that they just put out more security fixes recently, as the updater notified me. I thought WinXP was bad enough but it's surprising that so many are reverting to Vista although new machines were pre-loaded and some may not have much of a choice.

I'll use WinXP but I'm much happier with Mac OS X and Ubuntu Linux 7.10.

It seems in USA, Dell cusotmers got so fed up with Vista, they petitioned the company to sell PCs with XP.
Dell bowed to strong cusotmer demands and reintro PCs/Notebooks sold with XP.

When XP goes end of life or end of support, most people have to use Vista, no choice.
