Hi all, as this is the 1st time I have shoot IR, I am not sure how to do the PP for the photos. I just do some level adjustment and post the photos here. Can anybody advice me on how to do the PP for my photos? Thanks.

Looks great for just starting out. What are you using for processing your photos? Since the images are closer to black and white already, I might suggest going all the way black and white to get rid of the bluish spot in the middle- then you can add back in some toning if you like (and I like to do on mine). Might try increasing the white a little more. You have good basic contrast in the images.

A couple of things I do with photoshop- first is to go to black and white. This can be done either by going into hue/ saturation and desaturating the color or using the channel mixer. Then I use levels or curves to get the tones I like.
Tinting can also be done in a couple of ways- either by seperately adjusting the color channels in levels or I now prefer to use "Selective Color". I skip the color options here and go straight for the "neutral" option. I usually decrease the blue to about -10, leave the red in the middle, and then increase the yellow- usually about the same as I decreased the blue, but that can vary depending on what you like. Next I go into the "Black" in selective color and just give it a touch of blue- no more than say +4. Might need to counter that with moving the "darker" slider a step or two to the left. Now to the "white" channel in selective color. Try the bottom slider ("darker") first by moving it left. This can increase white. You may or may not want this. See what looks good. Sometimes I will try to remove some of the tone in the white channel here- sometimes not. You may need to go back and forth in all the sections a few times to balance out everythigng the way you like it. Just what I do with my BW infrared images- since you asked for some suggestions! Experiment. See what you like. ![]()

Just try to use your photos to practice my PP if you don't mind:
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I observed that all your 5 photos seems to have hot spot in the middle, not sure what lens do you use to take, and also, have you covered the viewfinder when you take the photos? |

I use olympus 550SP prosumer camera to take the photos. I got friend who use compact camera facing this problem too. I didn't cover the viewfinder when taking the photos. I will try IR photography again using the camera and see if the hot spot problem still occur. Thank for the PP.
