i believe u get those spots only when u focus to minimum focusing distance

Ur camera is prosumer DMC-FZ18? theoretically shouldn't be dust on sensor..do a visual check on ur lens..does the lens coating appears even? or can see very visible dust?
This is an electronic post which requires no signature.

yup it's a fz18. and yup again that it'll appear when i focus it to minimum using MF. i'm trying to prove that it's not dust on sensor to keep myself happy to be franks. but if it's really dust on sensor then i'll have to LLST

from the pic i attached the dust in being captured by the sensor, likely to be on the len. but if the dust in on sensor, it'll appear to be shadow wat. well correct me if i'm wrong.

and btw if it's coating problem, wouldn't it appear to be in patches rather than look like dust?

sorry i'm not sure so i need to ask..

another way to achieve 100% dustless on lens is
by getting a underwater housing and rinse away when needed

zzyzx, are you sure that you are taking the same spot of the envelop for both pictures? the black bots looks like dust to me now, but it doesn't look like anything on the lens, because the back dots seem to be rather focus. if there are dust on your lens, I do not think that the dust will get focus, isn't it?

to me, it looks like dust on the envelop instead. Sorry, can't help you much here.

The last photo looks okay. But got some black dots above the tree in the bottom left. Are those birds or dust? haha
