Default PLS HELP! Directional or Omnidirectional?

    hi there IT experts,

    need your techie inputs.

should i use directional antenna or omnidirectional for wireless connection? given that i roughly know where's the location of the hotspot and used inside HDB room(maybe block by HDB blocks)?

please advice me which should i go for? omni or directional?

    thanks in advance!

You mean there are directional antenna set-ups for Wifi?

This requires RF expertise rather than IT !

If you know where the transmitter and the receiver antenna are then directional antenna is better. But if you are moving around, then omni directional antenna is better.

Usually directional antenna has better gain over Omnidirectional.

If you have antenna manual, you can take a look at these details.

    Good luck

Directional if you know that you'll only be connected to that AP and your orientation is fixed. It prevents your adapter from 'seeing' the other AP working in the same channel from other directions. The only catch is, IDA may not approve because the effective radiated power could go above the limit because of the concentration due to the directional gain of the antenna.

This is what I'm using to access Wireless@SG from my office.
