Default My First Digital IR - 14 Oct Outing

Well it was a great sunny hot day and it was my first IR outing to try on digital IR on my D70s. Thanks to Francis for lending me his 67mm R72 IR filter lens. Well I had managed to capture 2 OK shots only. The rest are bad all becuz I didn't bring my tripod. Lesson learnt. I shotcolor images too as I want to convert them to IR efx using Photoshop Channel Mixer. I want to compare the difference between these images.

So here are 5 IR images. The first 2 were taken with the IR filter lens and the rest are conversions. Comments are welcome.

3, 4, 5 really just look like you converted to BW. The grass is still dark, etc.

Yeh some of the shots seems like not much IR effect especially #3 & #5.
Grain I presume you are trying to handhold with high ISO.
Composition wise I like the Dome.

Hey Martin,

It is a pity that you never bring your tripod along but I hope that you caught the procedure to do IR Photography. #1 and #2 is a good try. Hope that you can join us again for the next outing but might be one month later.

Thanks to everyone's kind words and comments. I really appreciate it. It was a great learning curve for me, making IR images; a whole new experience. Sure I'd love to join u guys again for the next mega outing. One month later?! No problem Francis. Looking forward to it. All the best in yr studies.

Thanks Dennis. In fact, I shot with my D70s at its lowest ISO 200. Well the noises turn out due to the PP, where I checked on Monochrome in the Channel Mixer. Red Channel remains at 100%, Green is pushed to +200% and Blue pulled to -200%. Constant is increased to +10. This is the process of making a color image into traditional IR efx, not color IR efx. Somehow I find the noise creates the similar grainy efx of the traditional IR film. Well guess I have to make more digital IR images in order to improve.
