    Default Air Purifier : Advice Needed!

    My second son has a very sensitive nose and is allergic to dust, so the PD has suggested that we get an air purifier. Anyone can recommend a good one? Thanks!

    my son had the same problem for years and sometimes results in nose bleed often, seen many specialist and got purifiers. And did not work.

    A friend recommended a chinese Sinseh which specialize for children, and after massage and chinese med for 1 mth once a week, we could see a lot of improvements. After 3-4 months, he is totally ok, which surprises us.

    The place is called Yu Guo, I believe they shifted to Jln Majsid road near the kembangang mrt. They're good.

    During when we had the haze, I bought a Sharp Plasmacluster. Bought from Best Denki also. http://www.sharpusa.com/products/Fun...050,42,00.html

    Thank you so much for the info (should be good for my eldest son) but my 2nd son's only six weeks old, so it's difficult to convince my wife to let him try the sinseh's medicine.

    What is PD?

    Have you son done any test or the skin prick test to confirm on which dust he is allergy to?
    Sometimes having air purifier alone or seeking help from sinseh will not help. You need to find the root cause.

    By inhaling alone, there are airborne allergens such as dust mite droppings(in pillows, matress, stuffed toys...etc but you can't see them), house dust, flowers pollen or maybe pet allergens.
    If allergic to pollen will be more troublesome since they exist in air.
    If he is allergic such as to dust or dust mite droppings, other than having a true hepa air cleaner you may also need to keep his room clean(bed,pillow,mattress and etc) and often washing(with hot water above 70degree) and changing them.

    I hate these mites...allergic to them as well
    Cleanse your thoughts, not by the foods you eat.

    I know maxine posted this for daniel previously.So repost for ya to help u. If budget is not a issue. Go for this one. Is your baby on any medication? Let us know if you need more help

    For a good air purifier, go for something like this:

    Essential
    * HEPA filter- remove minute dust particles
    * Nano Silver Filter- reduce bacteria, germs and mildew
    * Activated carbon filter- Eliminate odours
    * Photocatalyst Filter- For deodorization and disinfection
    * UV lamp- For sterilisation

    Extras
    * Negative ions
    * Human AI sensor
    * Fuzzy sensor
    * Remote control

    So far, we have bought this unit from Airion, model SA 6000, cost around 400.

    leave the distributors contact for ya. Mention u are joey's friend thru TL and ask for a good price and deal.

    My advice is to stay away from "ionizers". They usually generate loads of ozone, which is an aggressive irritant itself (common symptoms: sore throat, burning eyes, dry nose) and negates most health benefits that manufacturers advertise with.

    It could be more effective to just keep the air sufficiently damp (i.e., use a fan instead of the aircon and rely on Singapore's natural climate). Humidity helps to bind dust.
