Go to reputable show...not like SLS in Japan version
Show them your passport. Put your finger cross and say NO TAX. let them sort of the documents, You would be able to buy it at nett, no 5% GST. |

You can go to Akihabara...almost all Eletronics Shops are there.
Quite a lot of Duty Free shops, just bring your passport with you. Cheers! |

Check this Link -> http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3003.html
I believe there are 2 categories for the products they sell. For International Market Section and for Japanese market. So you can go to the Intl Market section as the products there has English manuals, English buttons and probably check for international warranty. Anyway, just enjoy Akihabara and you'll see there advanced electronics that you'll only see in Japan. Also ppl there are very different from SLS and I believe they don't con ppl. Please remember that some shops closed at around 7pm. So better go there earlier ![]() Enjoy...how I wish can have biz trip there again..hehe ![]() |

I left the address at home, goto: www.mapcamera.com This shop is one of the biggest I have seen in Tokyo, and they have all the G's (New and old) there, have tourist discount (tax free)if you show passport. Friendly people and you can try all the glass you want without buying as well...
Hope it helps. Cheers |

Tokyo is a shopping haven for almost all electronics!
My favourite all-in-one store is BICCAMERA, Shinjuku. They sell everything you can think of. Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 going for 38,800円, equivalent to S$488! In addition, before you purchase any items, please apply for a free rebate card. It'll allow a rebate of 10% to be added after purchase of item, the rebate can be used to offset your next purchase. E.g. a 38,800円/S$488 purchase will earn a rebate of 3,880円/S$48.80, meaning that end of the day, you only pay 34,920円/S$439.20 for a Tamron 17-50mm f2.8. The rebate is equivalent to credits that can only be used in BICCAMERA, no minimum purchase, you can also use the credits to buy drinks. |

there's YODOBASHI also in Shinjuku near train station area, electronic and electrical Dept store just like BIC camera store. In fact, there's 2 of them in that area. I bought couple of lenses from them as i find it slightly cheaper than others. You can buy tax-free with passport too. Cheers! Happy Shopping!
