Hi guys what do you think of this model? Any owners?
http://www.sony.com.sg/product/dsc-h3?site=hp_en_SG_i Like the compact size and the SLR-like features, pretty handy. Is the image quality ok compared to other cameras in the similar range? |

Was at Cathay Photo this afternoon & took a brochure of this cam. It sure looks good on paper. Why don't you try it hands on at the shops? It's a CZ lens. Will the other cameras in the similar range give you a CZ lens for this kind of price?

IIRC, Cnet had some comments about their button placement. Go see their review

I find it's a good "PnS" with an excellent lens. Not a prosumer, but a great lens, which is probably why it's "only" H3 rather than a higher number.

hmmm... i'm currently using this camera and ofcourse it has it's good and bad points.
Pictures taken in the day looks perfectly alright when i transfered to my pc. Macro is good up to 1cm. I find it quite comfortable to hold it in one hand and mode changing is easy with my thumb. The Auto mode does a good job in selecting the best setting in any condition. (except in poor lighting conditions.) IMO built in night mode in all PnS cameras don't do that much of a good job, neither does the H3. However night pictures looks good with manual settings on the camera (it does not have aperture nor shutter pirority). Pictures above 800 gets really noisy, then again i don't shoot above 100. Battery life does not go above 270 shots, thus it's recommended to buy a second battery. The advanced sport shooting mode works well in good lighting conditions eg. under sunlight. If you're catching a basketball game as SIS it would probably turn out bad. Personally, because of it's manual functionality, it makes it a good PnS camera with extra funtions for you to tweak your pictures and experiment with different setting for different photos. ![]()

why don't want to use double a battery?
if they made something like the h2, with canon gseries size i'd buy it in an instant seems like sony's battery life going down leh 270shots, my old h2 managed near 300 with TWO double a batteries only la |

err.. the lens range is 38-380mm equiv... The wideangle range is a put-off IMO.. otherwise everything else looks good for a camera this size~
