coolpix 8700 for IR

Hi everyone,

I have a coolpix 8700 which I seldom use.

I'm thinking of taking IR pics with it since I already have a D80.

From the sticky thread it seems that it cannot take colour IR pics if I use a Hoya R72 right?

In that case what do I need to get it to take colour IR pics? And I need a filter adapter I think... where do I get one?

Haven't tried the R72 with the 8700 but I would think it should be possible to get some color. Otherwise, you might want to try it with a B+W 092 or Edmund Long Pass (ELP) filter.

I searched google and found a couple of people who were able to use a coolpix 8700 for infrared photography. One did not say what filer he used, the other had an 88a filter. http://bermangraphics.com/coolpix/co...0-infrared.htm
