Seeking for all experts' opinion here.
I currently owned a 5D and I'm happy with it. With the launching of A700, I guess there may be a good bargain for A100. But is it worth the upgrade from 5D to A100 ? Would there be any major advantage ? Does A100 has significant advantage over 5D on focusing speed and accuracy ? Because most of my time, I'm taking picture of forever cannot keep still kids ![]() Any opinion or advice would be very much appreciated. THanks, HM |

I'm no expert and like u own a 5D. Recent price drop of the A100 is tempting me too, giving myself a "reason" to get a 2nd body.
But I manage to stop the temptation as IMHO, having better lens is more of an upgrade in this hobby. But this statement/self belief might only last until the A900 comes out. ![]() AF speed on the A100 is better but not by much, I guess. About capturing pics of the kids, I think more practice/faster lens might help. Additional features like pre-focus eye-start or the DRO function are good. Again, personally I feel upgrading your lens setup is a better move unless u got money to burn. I am certainly getting a couple of better lenses first b4 the A900 is announced. I'll give the A100 a pass. ![]() |

two options:
1. get a 2nd hand 7D, which you will see soon with many buying the A700. 2. wait for the A100 replacement. |

A700 also not out yet, how come u guys keep emphasizing to get?
i'd rather suggest the TS to hold on 1st, wait for the price to stabilise before jumping into it.

if you're happy with your current camera then just hold on to it lor.
i think the jump from 5d to a100 is that big. in fact in some ways the 5d is better. may as well save the money, wait another generation or buy a nice lens. |

Hi Guys,
Thanks so much for all your feedback and advice. Think I will wait a while and invest on the lens instead. So far, got only the kit lens and a 50mm 1.7 Love the 50mm. Shall get the tamron 90mm next ![]() Again, thanks for sharing your opinion! HM |

Good move bro.
Ultimately, its the lens that 'see' the subject. The camera body is merely a tool, in between you and the lens, that helps to capture that shot. Happy shooting. |

yup.. I think it is a good move.
I don't think A-100 is an upgrade from 5D. Although, A-700 looks really nice upgrade even from 7D perspective. So if you can wait, just go with better lenses and wait till the next FF DSLR from Sony and if you want to upgrade then A-700 should be cheaper by comparison. Regards, Hart |

I have both the 5D and th a100, what I subjectively feel is that they're not much different.
I certainly do not feel the a100 being superior in AF speed. Then again, I do not take pics of kids running around and don't think my friends or relatives are willing to run around for me to test my cam's AF capability. ![]() |

i'd say both have pros and cons. 5d has less noise and better colour and button layout whereas a100 is 10MP, image does look sharper and more res LCD. The list can go longer but my point is, they are of the same class.
