I think SONY USA going to have lots of return and angry A-100 users on this.
Under specification it's stated "Type of Use: Vertical Grip for DSLR-A700" but under compatibility both A-100 and A-700 are listed there. ![]()

yup, i thought the a700's body is larger, how can this fit the a100?
could be another technical error to mention the a100. looking at the specs: Type of Use Vertical Grip for DSLR-A700 .... Battery Type NP-FM500H (Total 2, not included) Dimensions (Approx.) 5 1/2" x 4 7/8" x 3 1/2" (137.7 x 121.5 x 87.2mm) do any of these look like they fit an a100? ![]()

Like the fact that it has many functions on the grip... but $500 is nearly half the price of A100... They can't be serious in thinking that we will rush in to buy...
Then again, will it come to SG? perhaps after the launch of the A700? if the price drops to $300+, can still consider...

It's more expensive than the VC-7D.

To know if your A100 can use the grip, open up the batt compartment and have a good look inside.

500SGD for a grip?
I got invited to one of those "focus group discussions" conducted by Sony, and one of the first things I kao-peh'ed about was the ridiculous over-inflated pricing of their products. I know they know that people will want the grip, but don't make people angry can? I think was it Canon or Olympus that gave out their grips free(?) as part of some promo. Oi, Sony, I hope you are listening!!! And no, I'm quite certain the grip for A700 will not fit onto the A100. And even if it did, why would I want to spend that kinda money to bolt it onto an A100 only to get reduced functions? |
