Aside from marketing (think megapixels in digicams & dpi in printers), the spacing between the blades get narrower, therefore holding down the surface of the skin flatter which results in less bumps and giving you a smoother nick-free shave.

All Mach 3 blades will fit in any Mac 3 razors and all Fusion blades will fit on any Fusion razors.

Heads expensive? Well, that's how the company makes it's profit.

Question: Do you change the blades according to timing or by "feel"? If timing, how many days/weeks? If "feel", what do you "feel" for?
Once the Gel Strip becomes white, I'll change it.

But since I shave like once every 2 or 3 days. It takes a hell long time to change the colour.

I just changed my blade after.... 6mths of usage?

I change by feel, once I feel that there's too much drag during shaving, that's it... change new head...

    I never change blade one.

    I just sharpen it.

    Wor! Old skool!

I upgraded from the Mach 3 to the Fusion and I can honestly say that the Fusion really does feel smoother!

I'm a sucker for buying fancy crap, so I've got the latest five-bladed battery powered Gillette something something. It actually does feel a lot smoother and less likely to cut into your skin than the previous models.

But I'm also lazy, so once in a while, I get a good pair of tweezers and pluck out every single chin hair that I have. Lasts at least one week, as opposed to one day.

    Fusion aftershave no.

Fusion Gel yes. Not so nice. The 'foam' not so much kick. I'd switched to using Gatsby Shaving Foam liaoz. Very cooling, roxor!

I don't like Gillette's fancy gel or "high-end" foams. In fact, my fav is their normal "Foamy" range. Especially the minty one, shave liao got cooling feeling. Cheap and good!

I think 3 blades is the max i'll go. 3 blades is already like 3 passes with every 1 pass. 5 blades would be hell for your skin. Imagine doing 2 passes with a 5 blades cartridge. 10 passes!!!

Thought of getting Fusion Power instead of Mach 3 blade today. However the blade for Fusion is quite expensive... so in the end got the Mach 3 blade instead.

After using the Gillette Fusion for some time already, I must say that it is much better than the Sensor Excel that I was previously using. Gone are the cuts and nicks that I use to get after shaving. But just that the single blade at the back is not really effective when shaving my sideburns.
