New to DSLR. Keep lens on all the time?

i just got a d40x. is it ok to keep the lens on the camera all the time when not in use at home, or is it better to remove the len and put on that cap thing over the camera hole?

it is ok to keep the lens mounted on the camera all the time
in fact it is better as dust will not go in

but do keep it in a dry cabi or a low humidity place (air con room)
