Hi all CSers,
which lens would you consider if you want to take wide angle photo on D80? ![]()

Agree -- check out Photozone; it has reviews on both lenses. The Tokkie is clearly much better.

Photozone have no reviews of the Nikon 18-35mm. The Nikon is FX.
I have both and sorry, the Nikon dusts the Tokina in the overlapping focal lengths ... |

depends on how wide u need. for me i got the 12-24 cos i thought 18 on my kit lens wasnt enough
i dont noe how the nikon performs, but the built and optics of the tokina are really quite nice |

I agree with PZ about the CA for the 18-35mm -- it's pretty bad, but in all other aspects, it's great.
Take a look at this too. Nikon 18-35mm versus Nikon 12-24, 20mm, 24mm, 35mm and 50mm primes. http://aaronlinsdau.com/gear/article...omparison.html http://xoomer.alice.it/ripolini/12-24%20vs%2018-35.htm |

i have not try nikon 18-35mm lens before so not so sure of its IO but just saw its review, don't think its so great afterall
however did try tokina 12-24mm lens on my friends cam, find that the IO and built is quite gd though some of my nikkor friends might say nikon lens is better, i think i might most probably goes with tokina 12-24mm instead ![]()

No point. One is an ultrawide, the other is a general purpose lens. You're sacrificing a general purpose lens for a specialist lens.
